2. No Selling: Your home based business shouldn't involve any selling of any kind (most people seem to hate the idea of selling - I know I'm no different)

3. If You Can't Work From Home; Forget It: The whole point of an internet work from home business is that you - work from home. This may be the number one criteria for you so if there is even a hint of needing outside premises then forget it. Save your money and spend it something better (like your significant other)

4. Home Base Businesses Are Best Run By The Home Owner: Sounds obvious but it's too easily forgotten. We're talking work from home businesses here so do you want some stranger invading your home? No. So forget paying wages to somebody else. At the most you should be involving yourself and your family members. No hiring; no firing. Too much trouble which you really don't need.

5. Your Business Should Have No Requirement For Any Stockholding: If you're asked to "invest" in some start up stock then my advice would be to walk away. Your garage is best used for it's original purpose - housing your car; not stock you may not be able to move on.

6. Should Need No Staff: If you work from home on your own account why would you want to employ staff? You should not need to rely on staff or outside contractors - so no inflated operating costs and no need to trust strangers. Trust in yourself; not others.

7. Should Not Dominate Your Whole Existence: The ideal home based business will take allow you time to enjoy the fruits of your labor. Forgive me if I'm wrong but the whole point of embarking on the whole work from home thing is to allow you time to enjoy your life and your family - even if you see it as a full-time commitment. Would 15 minutes a day suit you?
