Are You Barking Up The Right Tree?

By: Kaye Z. Marks

If you want to spend a lot of your budget on your marketing campaign and get minimal results, then you would probably want to try mass marketing. But if you want to have a more effective, less costly, and yet get better results with your color printing ad, then you’re better off advertising to a niche market.

Mass marketing can surely help you to spread out your word to a lot of people, but the drawback is that you spend so much of your budget and resources with only a small fraction of that population considering your benefits because not everybody has actually a need for your product. Whereas if you employ niche marketing to your campaign, you as the marketer would have better results yet you shell out the same amount of money and resources.

It is essentially easier to attract a smaller crowd than a much bigger one. For one thing, you will probably be heard by everybody in that small crowd, than speaking to a multitude that you need to use special equipment to be heard. It takes a lot of money and resources to attract their attention.

This is particularly true when you use a print ad for your marketing campaign. Your ad done by a specialized color printing firm would have more chances of attracting your target market when it is designed especially according to the interests of your specific market. The design itself appeals to your specific audience because they see in it their own beliefs, interests, and wants. Your message on the other hand, demands for their attention because you are able to provide a message that actually solves their problem.

The difference is in the impact of your message. Niche marketing allows you to target your message to a particular niche or group thereby giving you the opportunity to be specific on the needs and interests of your target market. Your offer is focused and your benefits are more precise. The impact is then greater.

So before you continue with promoting your business to everybody and praying very hard that some would even consider your offer, think of niche marketing. It’s more effective, costs less than trying to attract a much larger crowd, plus, it gets you the results you need to increase your sales and profits.

One last advice though, before you start being aggressive with your niche marketing – always plan your marketing strategy. In every marketing campaign, it is vital that you carefully map out what you want to do and what you would want to accomplish. When you do, you’ll most likely have a successful ad in your hands.
