Physical activity will increase your heart rate by distributing more blood, thus strengthening it and transporting more oxygen to your body.

You will notice changes in your energy levels, you'll feel stronger and notice more flexibility. Take care of your heart and it will take care of you by enabeling you to do physical activities that maybe were out of reach.

Losing weight successfully means keeping the weight off, and exercise is a must if you plan on getting to the point where you are as healthy and fit as your bodytype and genetic background allows.

If you are looking to shed pounds and getting a full body makeover, you need to find the type of workouts or physical activities that you will do on a regular basis, so it is important to do the exercises you actually like doing.

When you first start out in your exercise program, be sure to burn more fat by using intense cardio workouts. Resistance type exercises will be kept as a small amount of your program at first until the weight is coming off. Be sure not to over do it in the beginning.

But once you've been diligently following your diet and exercise program, you'll be noticing positive changes, sometimes significant. This is when the tables begin to turn.

As a general rule, the first few weeks of your fitness program should be mostly cardio type workouts since you are still at the stage of burning as many calories as possible. 20% resistance and 80% cardio at the start can now be moved to 30% resistance and 70% cardio, provided you are getting positive results.

Most people would like to be in the shape that lets them look like they don't need to workout and aren't looking for the ripped look. So most individuals once they've reached their weight loss goal, will be at around 60% resistance and only 40% cardio. Now you are finally at the stage of staying in shape.

If you are now at minimal body fat and are looking for the ripped effect, you might end up at 80% resistance and 20% cardio. If you have a one hour workout, you'll use 48 minutes towards resistance and 12 minutes towards cardio. A lot of at home methods for bodybuilding can be utilized without any equipment.

To reap all the benefits for fat loss and heart and body strenghtening, your workouts must be vigorous enough, often enough and long enough, to have a fitness conditioning effect. Start slow and work your way up.

Cardiovascular type activities could include bike riding, fast walking, jogging, high step running in place, aerobic dancing, jumping rope and anything that gets the heart pumping faster.

Researchers have concluded that frail, elderly individuals in nursing homes that exercise, can strenghten their muscles. Inactive people tend to have more health problems than people that exercise or lead a physically active life. No matter your age, you need to include physical activity into your diet and fitness plan if you intend on aging as healthy and fit as possible.

Losing weight should only be part of your motivation to exercise and follow a good nutrition plan. Research also shows being physically active can reduce premature death by as much as 50%. and stimulate the growth of new brain cells in older adults.

Your body taking on a nice healthy looking shape is only part of the benefits of regular exercise but your mind will benefit as well. Exercise will set loose endorphines, giving you a natural high, similar to what runners call a "runners high".

Not swaying from your fitness program is the only way insure you won't fall back into the same unhealthy condition. If you quit exercising, it's not long before all you have worked for is gone. All weight problems will return, strength and endurance will be diminished, cholesterol levels and blood pressure will also be back as though you never were involved in exercise.

Exercise is probably the closet thing to the fountain of youth and all it takes is some willingness and determination.
