Fundamental Information on Nails and Nail care

Nails are vital in that they perform different functions. In their absence, it would be impossible to perform many things.

Nails aid the animals pick-up and crack the grub they eat. Humans who are blessed with eating devices don’t count on nails to eat. However, they conserve the tips of the fingers and toes, and permit us grip small things.

Quite a few male guitarists, particularly classical performers, develop long nails to assist for guitar picks and aid them pluck strings. In the absence of nails, it would also be impossible to scratch any irritating area you have!

The nail plates, contrary to the ordinary belief, don't breathe. So they don't require oxygen. However, the nail beds and the cuticles are live cells and they do need oxygen, vitamins and minerals.

Toenails are thicker than fingernails but they develop quickly. It needs about four to six months for them to grow back while toenails take from 12 to 18 months. Usually, Normally, men’s nails develop quickly than women’s nails. Children and pregnant women too have quick rising nails.

Climatic conditions too affect nail growth. Nails develop quickly in hot climatic conditions and in daytime, than in cold climatic conditions and at night. Nails develop at different swiftness on both hands. If you are right-handed, its natural that nails on your right hand will develop quickly than the nails on your left hand and vice versa. Stress, typing on a computer etc. boosts nail growth.

Nails mirror a person’s healthiness. When you are not well, it will definitely show in your nails. One of the most predominant nail issues is onychomycosis, a fungal infection of the nails that may turn your nails awful and de-shaped. To avoid this, take total care of your nails by washing and patting them inside out, wearing well- aired shoes and cotton socks that absorb perspiration, and applying a good foot-powder.
