Human Growth Hormone - Fact or Fantasy?

By: Dr Hannibal Roman

HGH (human growth hormone) is a natural hormone. It is created by the Pituitary gland which is at the centre of the brain. HGH stimulates other glands in the body to work to work at maximum efficiency.

Recent studies have shown that raising the body's levels of Human Growth Hormone can delay or even reverse biological aging.

As we enter our 20's our bodies start to produce reducing amounts of HGH. This in turn leads to a multitude of detrimental side-effects such as more body fat, reduce immunity to infection and disease, bad skin, reduced sexual libido, and many other signs that we usually relate to the aging process.

Experts once thought that an aging pituitary gland did not have the facility to produce greater amounts of HGH. However, more recent studies show that a maturing pituitary really is indeed capable of producing as much HGH as when it was much younger, but only when it is stimulated to do so.

In many trials, enhanced HGH levels have been shown to give:

Average increased muscle (nearly 9% in six months with no exercise)

An average 14% fat-reduction (over six months, and with no dieting)

Superior immune function

More rapid wound-healing

Much improved and deeper sleep

Improved visual acuity

Higher energy levels

Better sexual performance

Greater cardiac output

Increased exercise capacity

Improved kidney function

Blood pressure reduction

Improved cholesterol profile

Stronger bones

Younger, thicker skin

Hair re-growth, or arrested loss

Wrinkle reduction

Reduction and/or Elimination of Cellulite

Enhanced Mood

Better memory retention

A modest raising of HGH levels can be achieved by a few people just by exercise and giving serious attention to their diet, and by reducing their weight to a lower level. But for the rest of us, this is no solution.

Pure-HGH injections can be used to increase HGH levels but this is seriously expensive. To keep prices low, most of the HGH supplements available contain very low levels of HGH, frequently too low to have a lasting effect. They gain their efficacy by containing mixtures of herbs and homeopathic preparations which naturally prod the pituitary into action.

Recent research indicates that the best method of elevating HGH levels in the body is to stimulate the body to produce more HGH. Rather than directly introduce a large (and expensive) amount of pure HGH into the body, it is possible to stimulate your own pituitary gland to produce more HGH.

If you accept the need or desirability to raise your HGH levels and keep Old Father Time at bay, the question is how to achieve it. This comes down to mundane considerations like cost and/or convenience. If cost is not a problem, then HGH injections will be the best way, although the nuisance and stress of regular injections is off-putting to most people.

The alternative for most of us is to choose one of the proprietary products available, all of which aim to re-stimulate the pituitary to produce HGH at a higher level. Some of them do this with tablets, pills and/or capsules, while others use direct into-the-mouth sprays. Some HGH products actually DO include small amounts of real HGH to add to the effect, but regulatory restrictions mean that this is a very small amount.

In a later article I will discuss the pros and cons of each method of HGH application. For now I will leave you with a warning: TAKE CARE!

Like many other products, it is impossible to tell the genuine HGH Product from the phony just by looking. Sugar pills can be made to look exactly like the real thing, so can sugar-water, and copying the packaging isn't much harder. Get your HGH (in whatever form) from a country where you know that regulations and inspections are regular and rigid, and at the top of that list are: The USA and Canada, The UK and European Community. I'm not saying that everything else is dodgy, far from it Just be careful!
