Learn How To Keep Your Colon Healthy

By: Windell Briggs

Many people are unaware of the importance of colon health. We typically just assume that our colons will function properly, as we take them for granted. Think of your colon as a machine on which you depend on everyday. Much like a car, it requires regular maintenance as well.

Health Problems from a sick colon

Due to the lack of care that we usually give our colon, many of us are suffering from colon related health problems. Lack of energy, pain, and constipation are some of the typical ailments. You can counteract these symptoms by taking certain measures.

Cleanse your colon with a colonic.

So, just what is a colonic?

An easy explanation is: The use of water to flush the colon, is a colonic. A trained practitioner will administer the water that will fill the colon through the rectum. The trained colonic therapist will attach one end of a tube to a colon hydrotherapy unit, and the other end to a tube or speculum, which will be inserted into the rectum. The colon is then slowly infused with filtered water to cause muscle contractions in your digestive tract. This causes all the feces and toxins to move out through the hose so that it can be disposed into a closed waste container.

What reason do I have for wanting a colonic?

Fair enough question, but as I said earlier, most of us are walking around with unhealthy colons that are leading to multiple health problems and we don’t even know it. Toxins are removed from your body by the colonic. The colonic will take care of any problems you have had with constipation, as well as eradicating toxic buildup from your body.

Are enemas and colonics the same?

They both help to clean the colon and they both use water. However, the areas that are cleaned are very different. An enema will only clean the lower portion of the colon while the colonic will clean the entire colon.

A colonic needs to be given by a trained therapist and an enema can be done in the privacy of your own home by you. The added benefit of the colonic is that you will not smell the fecal matter; it is disposed of using a tube connected to a closed waste container. That's not the case with an enema.

Looking at all this information leaves us with one more question.

Why isn’t everyone having a colonic done?

The answers to that one vary, for some they are embarrassed and yet others are worried about the discomfort or worry that there is pain involved with the procedure. The truth is that you may experience some discomfort during the procedure but it is temporary. Having a clean colon will give you improved overall health status, and it may even provide some weight loss for the individual.
