Want to learn relaxation stress techniques? Are you over stressed? Do you want to take control of it? Relax! Here are some ways and information to help your quest for stress management.
Relaxation is a process that decreases the wear and tear of life's challenges on your mind and body. This technique trains your mind to be less receptive to stress and realign your mind so that your level stress is lower.
You can benefit from learning relaxation techniques. Learning the skill isn't hard. Dig into these simple relaxation techniques to get you started on de-stressing your life and improving your health.
According to the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC), there are a number of techniques to break the stress cycle, but you will only gain the results once you use them. These techniques will contribute to the enhancement of your sense of well-being. Stress management can help you quiet your mind and reduce the concentration of stress hormones in your blood.
Relaxation techniques involve increasing awareness of your body and focusing your attention --- which results to relaxation. Doctors, psychotherapists, and other health professionals can teach relaxation techniques. But there some techniques that you can learn even on your own. Reset your stress clock using some of the suggested techniques below:
Mindfulness. The practice of paying attention to what you are doing when you are doing it.
Guided Imagery. This technique helps you create a sense of peace. During guided imagery, a person reads a script or describes an image to you that directs you to create beautiful and comfortable thoughts and pictures in your mind. The thoughts that are disturbing to you are set aside so your brain can calm itself.
Meditation. This focuses your attention on something that has no emotional value to you. It will contribute to lowering the concentration of the stress hormones in your blood. Meditation will train your mind to become less responsive to stress and will result in physiological changes that counteract the harmful effects of stress throughout the day.
Progressive Muscle Relaxation. A muscle relaxation technique involving the systematic tensing and relaxing of muscle groups. This helps you focus on the difference between muscle tension and relaxation, and you become more aware of physical sensations. Tense your muscles for at least five seconds and then relax for 30 seconds, and repeat.
Other relaxation techniques that you may be more familiar with include:
Yoga
Tai Chi
Music
Exercise
Hypnosis
Massage
Further, UPMC notes three important things to remember about the techniques you will practice:
There is no one RIGHT way to practice — the way that will work for you as an individual becomes the right way for you. Explore the many approaches available and choose what works best for you.
The techniques are not external—they are always within you to call upon when you need them.
Have no fixed expectations or goals — otherwise the cure becomes the stressor! Allow the techniques to just happen, and observe the difference.

Working out with the relaxation techniques enables you to maintain the calm and peaceful feelings you acquire during and after a relaxation exercise throughout your day. You will be more efficient in your everyday life and better equipped to deal with life’s stresses and challenges. So, relax, love and enjoy life!
