About nine days ago I met and interviewed a very talented and intelligent lady named Aunt Melba. We spoke about the latest trend of trying to make money online and she gave me her thoughts. It was intriguing because she had no direct experience with making money online but she had some universal knowledge about business in general.

Before calling it quits in '01 she was regarded as one of the premier minds in the marketing and advertising community. She spent her career developing award winning campaigns for products like car care packages and bran muffins. She sees what people are doing now to make money online as what she used to do with the help of T.V. and radio.

Now in this information age the playing field has been leveled somewhat to include everyone that wants to try their hand at trying to make some easy money online fast. Aunt Melba feels that dreams are being sold to people but not necessarily effective ways to make money online.

All these claims of how to make money online fast and easy causes Aunt Melba to sigh and shake her head because that was the perception of her job when she worked. It can't be that fast and easy to make money online if the whole world isn't pursuing it.

She pointed out that though it may look like people are making easy money online, that in actuality these people are working their butts off or either paying others to work their butts off. A lot of the work she says is done behind the scenes and in front of computers at all hours of the night.

We talked a little about people who think they can make money online doing surveys. I told her that I had some experience working with a couple of companies but it never panned out- most of the time you would take a survey and be compensated with points or gift certificates. At hearing me say I had done this several times she jokingly called me insane.

Repeated actions with no results are a habit that one should eliminate quickly-not just in running an online business but in life too. Aunt Melba said that 3 things will help you become a winner at making money online or offline.

These things are: Systems-Goals-Everyday Action

Systems consisted of finding an online business opportunity that was systematically setup to help you succeed. One that offered you proven tools that would make and keep you successful.

Setting goals means having targeted things that you would like to accomplish within the next 30, 60, 90 days, etc

Everyday Action means that you should be doing something to propel your online money making venture every single day. Having an online business and making money online does mean freedom but it doesn't mean laziness. While you're neglecting your online business, there are thousands of people who are getting ahead of you that much faster.

It doesn't matter if you're an old pro or a fresh fish you should be looking for a way to make money online that has sustainability. You have to have a "WHY" that drives your business. Why are you doing this and is the alternative to doing this helping or hurting you?
