Making The Best Credit Card Choice

By: Alisdair Cosgrove

Every year most people are the recipient of dozens of credit card offers so it can be confusing to make a choice of which offer suits your individual circumstances. The pre-approved credit cards seem to be the way to go, however some of these credit card offers may be nothing more than a scheme to take all of the money you will allow them to have.

One of the best ways to approach choosing the best credit card for your circumstances is to decide how you will be using your credit card and how often you will be using it. By doing extensive research on the credit card offers that come your way you should be able to choose the one that offers the best terms for you.Research on the internet and questions asked at the local banks can be a good way to find the answers to questions about credit cards. The first credit card offer you receive is usually not the one to accept because it is best to look further for the best available offer.

When you know how often you will use the credit card and what purchases you will make with it you will be able to decide which credit cards will serve your needs best. Some people like to pay for most of their purchases with credit but there are some who prefer to use their credit cards only for emergency situations or unexpected purchases.Having a carry-over balance is the norm for the people who are using credit cards to make frequent and small purchases, however the people who use credit for emergency or special purchases tend to pay off the total balance immediately.

There are some rewards and features offered on most credit cards that provide incentives to the cardholder to help them receive something they want.Although this incentive is an inviting one to the cardholder, it can be annoying to them when the balance has to be paid off immediately. When trying to decide which credit card is best suited for your needs, it is important to keep in mind what the Annual Percentage Rate and the credit line limits are as well as well as other incentive packages.

Individual features, advantages, limitations, and costs are offered on the three types of credit cards each credit card company has for it’s customers.

With the security card the customer has the smallest credit line, usually about $200-$300 and they also have to pay a security deposit. Those people who are wanting to improve their credit standing are usually the ones who use the security type of credit card.

The regular credit card which comes with a higher credit line is the most common type of credit card. The regular credit card requires no security deposit and they sometimes offer reward incentive programs.

The most incentive features and the highest credit line are found on the top of the line premium card, also known as the gold, platinum, or titanium credit card.

When choosing to use a credit card, make sure it has the best terms and incentives for your needs.
