The rainfall in Costa Brava is fairly moderate, which usually occurs during the winter season. The area receives about 600 to 700 mm of precipitation yearly.

Due to its close proximity to the Pyrenees mountain range, Costa Brava’s weather can sometimes be unpredictable. Helped by the Tramonata winds, blowing from behind the mountains, it keeps the temperature cooler in the summer but makes winter even chillier. These winds could even reach the speed of over 120 km per hour. But, generally, statistics still show that the region is bright and sunny most of the time.

During summer, the low temperatures range from 18OC up to 21OC with June as the coolest month. The high temperatures, on the other hand, relatively sit around 25OC to 30OC. When the sun is at its peak, the temperature could even reach more than 35OC. Costa Brava receives up to 12 hours of sunlight at the height of the summer season.

The summer months of July and August are usually the peak months for tourists visiting Costa Brava. However, the region has an inclination to be a little more humid. But thanks to the coastal winds that complement the humid air, it makes an even more pleasant atmosphere.

The winter months in Costa Brava is relatively short, usually from December to February. Generally, the sun shines for about six hours per day with an average temperature of only 16OC. It could even drop to 6OC, which is still considerably bearable as compared to the colder weather in the countries in Northern Europe.

Spring and autumn are the wettest times in Costa Brava with October considered to be the wettest month. These seasons have a fairly moderate rainfall and a mild climate ranging from 21OC to 25OC. These are the perfect times to see trees and flowers blossoming and changing their colours. It is also the best moment to stroll around the town’s parks. A visit during these off-peak seasons would also mean cheaper accommodation and would make the town less crowded. But always keep in mind to bring an umbrella, for daily showers are very much likely to occur.

Greatly because of the Mediterranean climate it provides, Costa Brava has been an ideal golf destination in Spain all year long. Cool sea winds make playing this sport more enjoyable and relaxing. Tourists visit this area to obtain a unique golfing experience that only Costa Brava could give.

Although the weather in Costa Brava is a little bit unreliable sometimes, this is still a place worthy of a visit due to its scenic coastal location and the mild and temperate climate it offers.
