TDWI Certification Programs

TDWI (The Data Warehousing Institute™) provides education, training, certification, news, and research for executives and information technology (IT) professionals worldwide. Founded in 1995, TDWI is the premier educational institute for business intelligence and data warehousing.
TDWI offers two kinds of certification, which may be taken individually or in concert: education-based certification and test-based certification. The program areas align to provide a natural progression from satisfying short-term goals to achieving your long-term career goals.

Education-Based Certification

• FastTrack—To increase skills for immediate project needs or to meet the demands of
your changing roles and responsibilities, the FastTrack program takes you from concepts and terminology to techniques and skills, then applies those skills, hands on, using a variety of best-in-class tools.

• On-Track—When you need broad-based and well-rounded knowledge of a particular
skill area, experience alone simply doesn’t do the job. To fill knowledge gaps and achieve comprehensive knowledge in your field, consider TDWI’s On-Track program. Based on a combination of planned learning paths and credits earned, On-Track certifies that you have immersed yourself in a body of comprehensive study and have completed
a series of required and elective courses.

Test-Based Certification
• Certified Business Intelligence Professional (CBIP) —This program ensures a meaningful and valuable credential by adhering to a rigorous and principled examination process. The CBIP program is designed for those who have knowledge and experience within a particular specialty and need a respected credential that communicates that expertise to others.

TDWI On-Track Credential

On-Track enables you to advance your career development through a well-rounded, formalized educational curriculum. Participants in this program earn credits in five clearly defined disciplines of required and elective courses that are offered at TDWI educational events. The TDWI On-Track program is offered in the same five specialty areas as the Certified Business Intelligence Professional (CBIP) test-based certification. The courses included in the On-Track program serve as an excellent guide when developing a customized study plan for the CBIP examinations.

Certified Business Intelligence Professional (CBIP)

TDWI offers an exam-based certification program that tests industry knowledge, skills, and experience within five areas of specialization, providing the most meaningful and credible certification available in the industry. To ensure its success and value, the CBIP program is founded on these principles:

– Certification is based on a curriculum that aligns learning objectives with job roles and

– Knowledge and skills testing are essential components

– Test developers and training providers are separate and independent organizations. The tests are challenging and demand real study to pass them; there is risk of failure

– The tests are not specific to any vendor or set of products

– Testing occurs in a controlled environment

– Recertification is required periodically.
