Three Must Use Products For Proper Skin Care

By: jan rossi

Beginning with the right skin care routine can be difficult considering all of the treatment options, home recipes and medical options. Depending on your situation, any number of options might be appropriate (each of which worthy of its own book at the very least). The information here is especially for those who are just getting going with a daily skin care program and will focus on the three key ingredients which any skincare regimen should be built. The products I'm talking about here are skin cleanser, skin toner and moisturizers.

Cleanser

Skin care creams and lotions are available for every skin type you can think of and it's easy to get lost in this "miracle cure" or that "new life saver". One thing that will always be needed regardless of your skin's condition is that an excellent cleanser is a must. These products are your first tool in cleaning the skin and preparing it for the second phase of your three step process. It is important to note here that not all skin cleansers are going to be as effective, especially when you start to consider skin type. A heavy cream cleanser is not going to be good to use if you have a skin type that is oily. A clay based cleanser may dry your skin out more since they can remove the skin's protective outer layer. An effective skin cleanser will clear the skin without upsetting its pH balance.

Skin Toners

Toner is also known as astringent. The goal of using skin toner is to clean the skin at a much deeper level and helping to remove dead cells, makeup and debris that couldn't be effectively removed by your cleanser. Having a good skin toner in your skin care regimen can help you avoid breakouts and open up the skin so that it is better prepared to replenish and renourish with moisturizer. Something to remember however is that these products can have more of an impact on the skin than a cleanser. They also can make the skin dry and to irritate those with sensitive skin. Choosing a skin care product that does not contain alcohol here is crucially important, especially for dry skin treatment or skin that is overly sensitive.

Skin Moisturizers

The last key step of any skin careprogram is a great moisturizer. The best of the skin moisturizers contain emollients, antioxidants, nutrients and oils. Like skin cleansers and skin toner, moisturizer should be selected based on your actual skin type. Moisturizers are usually labeled by weight with the lightweight products having less oil and ingredients that can feel "excessive" on the skin. As was mentioned earlier, a heavy moisturizer, which is a good choice for those with a dry skin type, may not be wise to use on an oily skin type since this may simply make matters worse.

Those three products are a must for any good skin care treatment plan. Considering the age of your skin and whether or not you are having to manage certain skin conditions, other approaches may be necessary. If this is the case, be sure to consult a dermatologist before beginning with any skincare products.
