By: AnYc

If you travel frequently, especially overseas, you may already know what you’re looking for in cabin cases. But if you are a new traveller, here are a few tips on how to buy and what to look for in cabin cases to make your travel stress-free.

If you frequently go on a business trip or on a vacation overseas, you probably have a very good idea on what luggage is ideal for you to carry along on your travels. But if this is the first time you’re travelling abroad, there’s nothing more frustrating than having a cheap piece of luggage that falls apart during your vacation. Cabin cases are the most popular luggage used by frequent travellers, especially overseas, to make their trip more organised and stress-free. So here are a few tips on what to look for in buying cabin cases:

1. Consider the size of your luggage. Consider first where you’re going and what you’re packing so that you’ll know beforehand what size you’re looking for. Basically, it should be able to fit the clothing, travel accessories and other stuff you’ll need in your vacation.

2. Know your budget. Look for quality cabin cases which you can afford.

3. Consider the quality of the cabin cases. To check for quality, there are two things you have to look into:
· Durability – When checking for durability, you have to look into the material it is made of. The usual materials used in making cabin cases are nylon or natural fibres, leather, plastics and metals. I recommend that you consider buying only the once that could serve well in the long run.
· Robustness - Consider the construction of cabin cases you want whether hard-sided, semi-soft cases or soft-sided cases. Whilst hard sided cabin cases provided maximum protection, you’ll find they are heavier than the semi-soft or soft-sided cases. Semi-soft is lighter in weight yet offer good protection of contents. Soft-sided are lightweight and the most expandable. However, they offer less resistance to crushing or impact from the outside.

4. Check the hardware of cabin cases – Consider checking the zippers, locks, wheels, handles, corners, pull-straps and shoulder straps.
· Zippers – Ideally, the zippers should be heavy duty enough to support the weight the bag was designed to hold.
· Locks – Check if the lock is mounted straight so that the two parts meet properly.
· Wheels – Look for heavy duty wheels that are wide apart. Ideally, it should also be located at the very edges.
· Handles – The most durable handle is the one mounted using metal or metal-reinforced bases with a number of rivets, screws, or prongs attached to the frame of the case itself.
· Corners – Look for corners that are reinforced with metal, leather or vinyl since the corners should be able to protect your luggage from damage.
· Pull-straps – This should be mounted with solid hardware and reinforced backing to prevent damage.
· Shoulder straps – Since shoulder straps are usually mounted at a bag’s stress points, strong hardware and reinforced mounting areas should protect shoulder straps from tearing off or snapping out.

5. Consider cabin cases with great organisational features. Get one designed to anticipate a variety of your needs. It should also be able to help you organise your things and get ready access to your possessions.

6. Consider getting brightly coloured cabin cases. You won’t find difficulty in looking for it as it will stand out on the airport carousel.

7. Make sure it complies with International Authority carry-on size. Most bags within the 24x14x9-inch (61x35.5x23 cm.) size restriction is considered legal on all planes.
