Trading tips: the reckoner for trader

By: Amit Malhotra

Profit cannot be gained without using logic. It’s the stock’s world- the practical world that runs on calculative risk and wise decisions and there is no place for gut instincts and unthoughtful decisions. Hence, here are some trading tips a day trader must follow in order to have better returns for the investments he make from his hard earned money.

  • Online trading is easy and quick, though investments take time: it should be noted that there are many ways for investment in stocks but profits do not happen over a night. Unlike other business investments, shares also need ample time to multiply the investments made. To cut short, discipline is the only key for trading in stocks.

  • Be familiar with the stocks you are investing in: investments made on other’s advices do not work all the time. A trader must have his concrete reasons to support his investments. Technical and fundamental analysis helps to find concrete reasons for investments. Make sure about the degree of risks you are bearing and set the extent of it.

  • Do not run to chase tips and rumours: every investor, each day comes across several tips provided by his friends and other traders. At this point of time, it is you who is the boss of your decisions. It is necessary to use your brains as your hard earned money is at the stake. Hence, do not chase useless tips and rumours and apply your brains for better investments.

  • Focus on future price appreciation appraisal: usually, while stocks are sold by any day trader, he starts comparing his selling price to the prices he purchased on. Main focus remains on the profit or loss; however, the focus should be shifted to stock’s future price appreciation appraisal. In case, the future of the stock states being it a winner, it should be held and must be sold as soon as possible in case there is a danger of downfall of stocks.

  • Do not run to squeeze the last profit drop: most of the investors wait for the right time to sell. They seek to squeeze even the last drop of profit out of the stock. It should be noted that this last drop may sometimes prove to be expensive at the stake of your investment. Hence, there is no right time to sell; only the profit and future trend must be noted.

  • Buy now: each trader wait for the right time to buy the stocks. It must be noted that there is not an absolute right time to buy the stock, if there is any right time then it’s now. Waiting for the right time for buying tends to loose the trader on their potential profits of the stocks. Hence, after proper evaluation on the stocks, it is the right time to invest.

  • Take due care of fast growers: it is not advisable for a day trader to sell the stock that is fast grower just at a bit of over price. Though selling of that stock may get a day trader a sheer profit amount but this early sell makes him loose on the rest of the profit that he may have earned holding that share.

  • Avoid large losses: for any day trader, it is important to avoid large losses. Integrating the investments in different disciplines may help to do that. Also, automated investments and stop order techniques help making practical and wise decisions regarding the buying, retaining and selling of stocks.
