Visit To Washington, D.c.

Washington, D.C. occupies a key position when it comes to nationalistic fervour. This capital city, its memorial and attractions are a living testimonial of our nation's history. All of us should visit Washington, D.C. for an enjoying and learning experiece.

The first stop on any visit to Washington, D.C. should be the capitol building itself. With Freedom perched on top of the massive dome, this building is impressive and beautiful. Be sure to take a guided tour through the building and explore the fantastic works of art located within. If Congress is in session, consider getting tickets to the visitor’s gallery and watch our government in action. Security is a high priority in the capitol building as well as any other government building in the city, so be sure to leave any banned items at home.

National Archives is the place to get a first hand account of our nations history. From the Bill of Rights, Declaration of Independence, the Constitution to unique historical items like the cheque that paid for the purchase of Alaska from Russia our National Archives are home to rarest of historical must see items.

Smithsonian Institute takes the pride of place among visitors to this city. With its numerous museums, it caters to everyone's taste and interest. Visit Air and Space Museum, Natural History Museum, National Gallery of Art and the American History Museum to watch Legendry Wright Flyer, the Hope diamond, Leonardo da Vinci's paintings, Dorothy’s ruby slippers and Fonzie’s leather jacket. Some other museum's under its collection are museums of art and the beautiful museum of Native American history.

Another great museum houses a much somber exhibit, the National Holocaust Museum. With heart rendering exhibits documenting the world’s most tragic period of time, this museum is dedicated to the men, women, and children who perished during this reign of terror.

Your trip to Washington is complete without a visit to memorials like Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial, Roosevelt Memorial, or Jefferson Memorial. The Jefferson museum looks really beautiful in spring when its Japanese Cherry trees are in full bloom. Do not miss out on the Vietnam Wall, the Korean War Memorial or the new World War II Memorial.

The White House is considered the nation’s house and is lovely no matter what time of the year. With the heightened security measures that have not been instated, you can no longer directly tour the White House. Instead, write your Congressmen or Senator for a special tour that can be arranged through the White House office.

Finally, there are many family oriented places that are great for entertainment and education. So, plan your next family vacation to the nation’s capital city, Washington D.C.
