What Are Squeeze Pages?

By: babyface

Squeeze pages also known as landing pages are commonly used by internet marketers to gather or build their list of highly targeted subscribers. Most people are wary of giving out their email addresses due to the proliferation of spam. To ease the consumers concerns, savvy internet marketers created landing pages or what is commonly known as “Squeeze Pages.” They are usually a one page sales pitch that detail exactly what the prospective subscriber will be getting upon signing up. It also includes a private policy to give consumers a piece of mind that their email will not be shared nor sold.
Internet marketers borrow copywriting techniques from offline direct response marketing. This includes the use of a headline, bullets, teaser copy, deadlines, testimonials, scarcity, and the like. Aggressive marketers will present visitors with multiple incentives in exchange for their contact information.
How Is It Done?
Generally speaking, content on a sales page are limited to a minimum. It is much simpler in style as compared to a corporate website. The primary goal of every online marketer is to obtain the visitor's name and email address; no more no less. Additional information being asked could disappoint a visitor causing them to "Click-Away" instead of further reading down the page. Navigation links such as “about us,” “products” and “contact us” are rarely seen. The absence of links was intentionally designed to focus visitors' attention on one aspect: register for the email list or leave the site. Savvy web marketers have figured out that convincing a visitor to sign up for an email list provides an opportunity to present that visitor with multiple email sales messages over time, develop a relationship, establish their credibility and even sell other affiliate related products.
A squeeze page is always used with an email auto responder that delivers all emails automatically. Information is sent immediately upon the visitor’s signing up. The auto responder may be used to send a series of follow-up emails or to provide an immediate download link to all freebies or bonuses written on the landing page. Giving out free items such as eBooks, software, training videos are proving to be an effective way of increasing the opt-ins of web surfers. New technology has also led to adding audio and video to Squeeze Pages in an effort to capture the visitor's attention.
How do you make one?
Making an attractive squeeze page used to be the domain of experienced web marketers. One has to know HTML, XHTML or other programming language. Or you can outsource it to web designers, for a price of course. Times have changed and with the advent of web technology, just about anybody can make a decent and attractive sales pages. There are various softwares that make it easy for newbies to come up with one. Web based squeeze page builder have also proliferated. The only thing an internet marketer has to do is pick the right choice according to his specifications.
The art of making a squeeze page has come a long way. We are very sure that five to ten years from now, it might be a little different from today’s concept and design.
